A Charge for Young Graduates, and Their Church

After God had created Adam and Eve, he blessed them, and then commanded them to be fruitful and multiply, and to subdue the earth and have dominion over it (Genesis 1:28). They were a special creation, with a special purpose.  In other words, God was telling men and women of the Earth to use their blessings to spread his special creation everywhere they went. He wanted them to reproduce the blessings that he had given them, which set them apart from all of the rest of creation, and to use those blessings to properly order the world.  The unfortunate truth is that men and women have too often used the blessings that God has given them to achieve ends that benefitted nothing but their own pleasures, rather than the ends for which God had intended.  Such poor choices have left a wake of death, destruction, disease and darkness as men and women have misapplied their blessings and reproduced disorder and chaos instead of God’s intended order and goodness.

But this doesn’t have to be so. God has blessed you with graduation. He has given you knowledge that allows you to function at a basic level in the world. More than that, he has given you a church community where you have learned about his goodness, and seen it demonstrated by flawed humans who love him, and who are doing their best to bring his blessings and order to a world ravaged by death, destruction, disease and darkness. They are doing this by being fruitful, and multiplying the love of Jesus, and spreading that everywhere they go, so that the world is subdued by his story and his example. Like Adam and Eve, you have been given blessings which portend great purpose or great calamity. You must frequently examine yourselves to know what potential you are actuating with your blessings. You must expand your knowledge, and perfect it. You must then properly apply it. Your potential is boundless, and you have the ability to mark the world for proper good and order. Go and be what God intended. Be fruitful and multiply his goodness.

If you are a part of the church, you can continue to multiply such goodness and fruit by supporting young minds who have graduated to this new level. Your best contribution will be in demonstrating the proper use of the blessings you have been given, and spreading God’s love, truth, grace, and purpose everywhere you go. When we do these things together, the world of men is redeemed from death, destruction, disease and darkness, and God’s goodness reigns supreme, and we can then truly enjoy the blessings he has richly given us.
